Indira Reddy, two-term TTD Board member and wife of former MP, Mr T. Subbirami Reddy, who is in the race to be the chairperson of the the TTD Board, said it is time a woman got the post.

Her husband is lobbying with the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, and the Congress high command for this. The strongman from the coastal region, Mr Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, has been eyeing the post for the last two decades has now reportedly stepped up pressure both on the Chief Minister and the high command to clinch it.

The names of Mr Mallikarjuna Rao of GMR Group and Mr Sanghi are also doing the rounds. Mr Sanghi, who was not re-nominated to the Rajya Sabha, is trying to convince the Congress leadership that he is the right person for the post.
